A to Z 2017 Challenge Theme

This theme may be way out of my league.  It probably would be better served if written by a guy because I think the guys would really like this theme.  If you like things like Seal Team 6 or anything warrior-esque than this blogging challenge may be right up your alley.

There was a little group of guys the Bible calls David's Mighty Men.  They are listed in two places in the Old Testament:  2 Samuel 23 and 1 Chronicles 11.  There were two groups among David's comrades:  The Thirty and the Three.  You'll get to know some of them but not all of them.  Because this is an alphabetical theme there are not enough English names to fill all the holes of the alphabet so there will be some other tidbits stuck in the nameless spots.

So what does mighty mean?  In English it means "having or showing great strength or power; very great; possessing might; powerful; accomplished or characterized by might; great or imposing in size or extent.

The Hebrew word transliterated is gibbor, which also means strong or mighty.  Some of the other English words used to translate gibbor in the Bible are:

Champion
great
helpers
heroes
men
men of outstanding
mighty
mighty warrior
strong
valiant warrior

One who magnifies himself, behaves proudly, a tyrant, who is bold, audacious.

If you're a movie buff, I'm picturing an Arnold Schwarzenagger or The Rock or Sylvester Stallone or other some such person of physical prowess.  We didn't live in the times of David and his mighty men, but as we go through the month of April I think you will see that these were probably some really tough dudes.

So, enjoy the ride.  I know I will.

Peace,

Ronda
